Farm Tour 2.0
This is our classic farm tour “only more so,” since it goes deeper into the property to see more variety of what we do. A bonus is you get to see lots of beautiful natural scenery, including a spring-fed pond and beaver dam, a variety of woods, what we believe to be the remains of an old wagon road, as well as our bee yard and sow paddocks complete with baby piglets! It’s a full mile walk with quite a bit of elevation change, so this tour is suitable for those that enjoy a moderate hike and won’t mind working up a bit of a sweat. You don't have to be an aspiring farmer to enjoy this tour. We discuss food production as a whole and the all-around benefits to raising meats and eggs on pasture in a rotational system.
Length: 150 minutes / 1-mile walk
Suitable for kids? Yes, if they don’t mind a good stout hike and plenty of discussion time. For very small kids, plan to use a backpack carrier or a bicycle-wheel stroller in case they tire on the way back up the hill. Small-wheel wagons/strollers are not permitted on this tour.
Note: Attendees are expected to bring bottled water and appropriate bug/sun/weather protection. Closed toe shoes are a must. Bathroom facilities will be unavailable during the tour unless you leave the group early and return the half-mile to the store.
