February 2026 Road Construction Update!

TXDOT has "closed" Hwy 49 leading to Shady Grove Road from both directions.

Coming from Longview: Most of the construction is happening between our road and Hwy 155. Though we were originally told that the workers would let people pass, there may be heavy trucks and rough unpaved roads coming the usual way from the north. As of 2/19/26, we suggest following the detour from 155 to 729 and then to Joe Davis, which tees into Hwy 49 directly across from Shady Grove Rd. See this route map from the intersection of 155 and 729 to our ranch.

Coming from Jefferson/Marshall: You should be able to tell the worker at the barricade that you are local traffic traveling to a business within the construction zone, and they will let you bypass the detour entirely. As we understand it, the actual road construction is happening farther north past our road, and that section of 49 will remain reasonably clear.

For years, folks have been asking for the option to just "come to the farm and shop." And we've wanted to provide it! But it takes a long time to build things while running a farm--especially when you're milling your own lumber! So we are pleased to announce that it's finally here. Our farm store is up and running for your real-food shopping enjoyment! Be sure to visit the "Inside Outhouse" and check out all the varieties of local wood and repurposed materials we have implemented in the architecture. Farmer Matt (who's an engineer in disguise) designed it himself!
